Periyar Wildlife Sanctuary

 Hoping to see one of these beautiful creatures

Sadly it was not to be but we did see a large squirrel, a black bird whose name I forget now and several monkeys. We also see the traces of elephants who had passed through the area and a couple of tiger prints that the ranger believe our just a day or two old. The constant companions though are leeches and our guide uses tobacco powder as the removal remedy. We have to wear over socks inside our shoes that go up to our knees as added protection.
